Introduction:
The 2019 Gabin et Félix Richoux Irancy is an expressive and refined red wine that exemplifies the unique character of the Irancy appellation in Burgundy. Crafted from pinot noir grapes, this wine offers a harmonious blend of vibrant fruit, floral notes, and earthy undertones, reflecting both its terroir and the meticulous winemaking practices of the Richoux family.
Terrior:
Sourced from south-southwest facing parcels in the Irancy appellation, the vineyards are rooted in limestone-clay soils. This terroir, combined with the region's cool climate, contributes to the wine's minerality and freshness.
Appearance:
Medium ruby with a bright, clear core and subtle garnet reflections at the rim.
Nose:
Aromas of vivid red cherries intermix with raspberry preserve, rose petals, and light blueberry scents.
Palate:
Silky-smooth, almost satiny in texture, framing crisp red berries, brown spices, black truffles, and stony minerality.
Finish:
The wine fans out wonderfully on the finish, with savory depth and vibrant acidity, offering excellent aging potential.
Overall Impression:
The 2019 Gabin et Félix Richoux Irancy is a beautifully balanced and site-expressive Pinot Noir. Its graceful structure, lifted aromatics, and mineral-driven core make it both cellar-worthy and immediately pleasurable.

95 points, Decanter:
"Thierry Richoux is considered the best producer of Irancy, and has now been joined by sons Gabin and Félix. This is a spectacular example of the potential for pinot noir in Irancy. The palate is chock-full of vibrant, sweet, red berry fruit with a hint of mushroom and forest floor in the background. Brimming with purity, freshness, and concentration. In a blind tasting, this could easily be a youthful example (say 2022) from a top site in the Côte d'Or. But it's from Kimmeridgian clay in the cool climate of the Yonne, aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks and 14 months in oak barrels. Joyous pinot noir and remarkable value for money, with plenty of stuffing for further aging. Organic." (2/22/25)
